Hospital Features Radiologic Work
COURT HOUSE - November 5-11 has been declared National Radiologic Technology Week and Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital has joined in the recognition program. The hospital's 30-member Diagnostic Imaging Department provides a full range of modern services including conventional radiography, nuclear medicine, ultrasonography and computerized axial tomography (CAT) scanning. RADIOLOGIC technologists are specialists registered nationally and licensed by the state. Two years of combined classroom and clinical training are required with studies now including the computer science required to work with the latest developments in the field. At Burdette -Tomlin, much of the radiographic
talent is home grown. The hospital sets a high standard with its own school of radiography administered by BTMH board certified radiologists. THE SCHOOL was founded and is directed by Daniel Wilner, M.D. chief of the department and an internationally renowned expert and author on the . radiology of bone tumors. Many of the graduates of the Burdette Tomlin School have remained to work at this hospital. County residents requiring radiological studies benefit from -highly
qualified staff and from the latest equipment including a CAT scanner and new nuclear medicine facilities. Hie diagnostic imaging department recently has grown to include 10 examination and specialized study rooms. "WE ARE proud of the progress of this department, which now ranks among the best in the state. We especially salute our radiography technologists during this recognition week," said William H. Waldron III, BTMH president. "Our radiography
students and graduates have had a very positive influence on the development of services here." Anyone interested in more information about the BTMH School should contact Kathy McGarry, the program's coordinator, at 465-2000, ext. 5783.
