November. She will present "Cape May Owls — Night Movers" at 8:15 p.m. Saturday in the Wetlands Institute. Duffy has been studying barn, saw whet and longeared owls since 1980 in Cape May County. She is a park service naturalist at Grand Teton National Park near Jackson, Wy., most of the year. BORN IN Illinois, she was raised in northern New Jersey and received a degree in biochemistry at Temple University in Philadelphia and a master's from Rutgers in ecology. She has done raptor banding at Island Beach*- and Sandy Hook. This spring, she traveled to Israel to band raptors. "My work involves searching for patterns in the fall flights of these birds. The moon and weather affect each fall's migration, but there is so much that we have yet to learn," says Duffy. Fewer .owls are passing through, and one of the reasons is that marsh lands are decreasing because of building and dfainage. The numbers are down everywhere this year, she says. The owl story, with color slides, will be presented in the Marshview Hall of the Wetlands Institute, one mile west of Stone Harbor. The Institute is open for winter hours Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
