$380,000 Hi-tech ACC Aid
MAY'S landing - Atlantic Community College (ACC) hag received more than IWO.OOO in grants for toe 1984-85 academic year for the development of new hi-tech degree options and the delivery of adult literacy-
and basic skills training. ACC received $199,260 from the New Jersey Vocational Educational Grant Program to develop a new degree option called computer systems technology. The college's existing electronics technology program will incorporate this option. USING THE newly acquired funds, two new courses, Fabrication Techniques and AC and DC Circuits, will be created. These courses will provide training for technicians at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Technical Center. FAA is redesigning its air traffic control system and experienced personnel are needed in this field. A second grant from the vocational fund, for $96,300, will help develop a new degree option called data communication-office automation which will be part of ACC's existing secretarial science program.
IN THE OFFICE automation sequence, students will learn about electronic mail, teleconferencing and electronic scheduling. The grant will help establish three new courses, two of which. Automated Office
Communication and Automated Business Applications, will be offered in January. Integrated Office Automation techniques will be available to students next fall. ACC also received three grants for adult education programs. An $83,610 grant from the New Jersey Division of Adult Eduahfion will be used to provide free classes for adult literacy and to prepare adults to take their high school equivalency test. Grants for $65,000 from the Job
Training Partnership Act and for $18,500 from the New Jersey Division of Vocational Education, will be used for basic skills and English as a second language training.

Ryan, president and chief executive officer of South Jersey Industries, Inc., said a recent agreement to sell South Jersey Fuel, Inc., a fuel oil distribution subsidiary, has been terminated. On Oct. 15, Ryan announced signing of the agreement with Acme Oil Co. of Lakewood. However, Acme has failed to consummate 'the deal, he said. South Jersey Fuel serves 18.000 customers in 11 counties including Cape May.
