8 Awards * On Safety Posters ERMA - Eight South Jersey Christian Academy students were honored recently by the Erma Volunteer Fire Department for their contestwinning fire prevention and safety posters. Four of the students, whose posters wefe judged the best submitted, will each receive a $50 U.S. Savings Bond from the fire company. They are: kindergartner Heather Kopp; second grader John Miller; third grader Kristie Woods; and sixth grader Cinnamon Kelly. These youngsters have already received fire company certificates of appreciation. FOUR ADDITIONAL youngsters will receive letters of commendation from the fire department: second graders Holly Cloer and George Clark; and sixth graders Julie Esher and Jason Newell. The awards were announced at a school assembly Oct. 25 at the i culmination of Fire Prevention Month. At the assembly, Erma Fire Chief Robert McNulty and other firemen showed a fire prevention and safety film, and did a firefighting equipment demonstration. Afterward, the students had the opportunity to climb around on the fire truck, as well as to greet "Sparky," the department's firetruck dog and mascot. THE POSTER contest jjA open to all the school's sfXgnts, and some 47 children participated. Everyone who did a poster for the contest will receive a T-shirt from the fire company. South Jersey Christian Academy is a K-7 evangelical Christian elementary school, and is housed in the Tabernacle United Methodist Church on Seashore Road here. It is operated independently of the church, and is governed by its own interdenominational school 4 | board.

How to Be Assertive VINELAND - An assertiveness workshop will be conducted at Cumberland College here noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19. The free session will be held in the Student Center. Book Week At Academy COURT HOUSE - Elizabeth Whittington, Ocean Academy's librarian, announces the academy's annual Book Fair and Puppet Festival, this week through Friday to celebrate National Book Week. The library invites parents, staff and students. Whittington says, "Our book fair items make wonderful holiday gifts.'' Also, during Book Week, the Special Services Parents' Association held a Paper Back Book Fair and a general meeting. 4-H Meeting COURT HOUSE - The Seeing Eye Dog 4-H Club will meet 7:30 this evening at the Lockwood 4-H Youth Center, Dennisville Road. Ideas for meetings and field trips are sought.
