Programs Outlined To Group OCEAN CITY - A Happy Hour was held at the Stainton Senior Center,' 3304 Bay Ave., Monday Nov. 19. with a special guest from the county Office on Aging. , The speaker outlined the services and benefits available for seniors in the county. Programs and activities that appeal to individuals also were discussed. A LUNCHEON is served each day at 11 : 15. This is a federal program for all senior citizens in the area. The purpose is to promote mixing with others. The inter-personal seating arrangements help to make new community acquaintences. Often persons who attend the center will meet on the boardwalk or shopping. To begin making holiday decorations and giftj, each Monday afternoon 1-2:30 a sharing and teaching hour will be conducted. The craft instructors are Nan Hampton and Ronnie Novickas. WEDNESDAY. Nov. 28, ^ at 10 a.m., Wayne Whelan will discuss the. hospice concept and development of this program. This is a new aspect of dealing with the total life of the terminally ill person. The public is invited to attend all events at the center. There .is free bus" ■transportation to the center. Reservations and information regarding services of the bus can be had by calling 886-2011. Other happenings at the , center include line and tap dancing, square dancing, and aerobic-type exercise. The center is open MondayFriday 9-4. Visitors are welcome. For information regarding the Happy Hour or other happenings call 399-0055. Reservations for the lunch program are required and can be made by calling 398-2552 9-1 p.m. Monday-Friday. Hold the Cans ), COLD SPRING - Lower Township workers will not collect trash on Thanksgiving Day, the Public Works , Department reported Friday. Trash, usually collected on Thursday, will be picked up Friday and Friday's trash will be hauled away Saturday. Advent Wreaths An interesting Christmas custom comes to us from Austria. An "Advent Wreath" is made of holly or pine and has four candles in it. On each of the four Sundays prior to Christmas, one of the four candles is lit as a child reads a part of the Christmas Story. Then on Christmas Day — all four candles are lit.
