DEL HAVEN - Ken Kirsch's under 12 Silver Streak managed to add another victory to its record before the rains washed the opposition back to Linwood. A hat trick by David Nordone, complemented by double scores by Aimee Oprandy and J.R. Coomer with singles by Curtis Graham and Kenny Dickinson caused the scales to tip 9-1. The lopsided final was attributed to the Express offensive squad with the midfield passing and controlling the ball expertly. THE UNDER-14, Midnight Special, with coaches Ed Fretz and Yogi Kurtz, faced defeat after traveling to challenge Cohansey 2-1.
Chris Corchiani, off a cross from Mike Gehtile, was the Special's lone scorer. The outstanding defensive plays by players like Shawn McAnaney and Goalie Jason Phillips aided in holding Cohansey to only two scores. Monsoon-like down poors caused the Rovers and Golden Flyer to cancel their play and reschedule their games for the Del Haven Fields. These replayed games, regardless of the cold weather, saw the Golden Flyer chill Linwood 4-1 with scores by Mike Barth, David Flickinger, Kenny Kirsch and Frankie Jancsura. WHILE THE Golden Flyer defrosted, the
Rovers fought against Medford and despite the illness of regular Goalie , Paul O'Brien, the Express managed to hold on to a l-l tie. This tie assured the Rovers of a wildcat position in the 'seasons playoff games. Kevin Jackson once again took credit for the teams only point, made off a break-away half-field kick by Tim Kirsch.
