Probinsky Has $22 Million Boardwalk Plan
NORTH WILDWOOD - Brent L. Probinsky, international a t - torney/developer and president of the Sosua Beach Hotel and Casino in the Dominican Republic, has announced that his Caribbean firm is proceeding with plans to construct a major, international tourist pavilion along the Bodtdwalk here. Slated the cost in excess of $22 million, the International Pavilion has been a "family dream" for years, Probinsky said, Probinsky, son of Atlantic City and Behamian tourism development pioneer David Probinsky, stated in a communique from his main office in Sosua, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic "My father, David, and I will be presenting to the City of North Wiidwood, a detailed plan for a beach/boardwalk project that will exceed $22 million in construction costs." PROBINSKY SAID, "I have had my staff, architects, and engineers doing thier homework for the past 2 Vz years and hopefully in May, 1985, we will be able to present the project formally to the North Wiidwood City officials." Probinsky acknowledged that formal details have not been submitted to city officials, as a tremendous amount of preliminary
work is necessary on various governmental levels. Formal discussions 1 will proceed after North i Wiidwood shifts its , i mayorial chair to Mayor I Catanoso's successor he in- I ; dicated. (Mayor Anthony I Catanoso is resigning his I post as mayor after I decades of service. ) [ However, Probinsky indicated the complexity of i the project by stating," Some 16 Caribbean, West i Indian,- and Latin American country's Tourism Promotion Boards I have expressed sincere ini terest and a firm expression of desire to participate i in this very exciting ; project." THE PROJECT, he said, i will be "the most exciting international tourism project in the world, featuring i international shops, i restaurants, and attractions." Designed to promote both the Wildwoods i and the Caribbean, Probinsky noted, "The Caribbean season is exactly opposite that of the Jersey Shore and the mutual benefit derived from a multimillion dollar completed located in North Wiidwood would be tremendous ! ' ' The decision to locate the international, pavilion in North Wiidwood was based upon the inherent popularity of the Wildwoods as a resort community, he said, but as important a factor is UUl IU lllipvil Ulll I a lOLUll ID
the Probinsky's family roots in the Wildwoods. "I was born here, stated Probinsky," and my grandfather, Joseph Probinsky, was a pioneer developer in Cape May County. In 1927, my grandfather remarked, when elected to the presidency of'the Wiidwood Chamber of Commerce...! 50 years from now, the beaches and boardwalk at- - tractions of the Wildwoods will surpass any coastal report from Maine to Florida; and I take a great deal of pride in insuring that his visionary remarks ring true." Probinsky will be traveling to the Wildwoods during the Thanksgiving season for an extended planning session concerning the North Wiidwood project and to visit with interested parties who have expressed interest in participating in the Sosua Beach Hotel and Casino resort complex development.
