(From Page 10) be part of the fun call Dave now at 967-3066. • • • TALKED TO Gertrude Reiss, chairperson for service to military families from the county chapter of the American Red Cross. She was her usual enthusiastic self. Thirty-two families from this area invited 88 service people from the Coast Guard Station in Cape May to share Thanksgiving dinner and she had invitations for 30 more! One of the most heartwarming things about our holiday this year was getting a Happy Thanksgiving card- from Chris Rastallis, . whom we entertained last year, thanking us and remembering the fun we had. We were both misty-eyed on receiving his note. Gentlemanly 'Chris has recently been/ sent to the Coast Guard dutter Chase, a 378 foot snip based in Boston, which "primarily does southern cruises including Haiti." Mrs. Reiss is already searctypg for hosts for Christmas with the aid of Episcopal chaplain, Fr. William Brown and Catholic priest, Fr. William Clifford. Gertrude chatted about unusual ways host families seek to please their guests.

One innovative hostess had stocked ho- home with all kinds of postcards and stamps. We found unlimited use of a secluded phone — with requests for collect calls only, and a collection of recent newspapers made our guests happiest. Other hosts we knew found quiet places to nap were the greatest attractions to exhausted trainees. One thing we all agreed about was plenty of sweets. They are not allowed to take gifts back to the base, so have candy and junk food available while they're with you. Most important, if you want totreat yourself and some young people who may be far from home on Christmas to a wonderful day, call Gertrude at 884-1587. • • • GEORGE GADSBY of Avalon's Senior Citizen Organization has been working overtime producing its Annual Christmas Show to be given at the Golden Inn at noon Dec. 11. Its luncheons have been drawing such crowds that this .event is limited to members without guests only. For reservations or information, call Peg Christmas at 967-3277 Caveat: Reserve early. ✓ _ Christmas this year, nothing has been planned for that day. There is space for only 50 persons, so make your reservations early by phoning Marguerite Klotzbucher at 368-4369. Ellie (Mrs. Frank) Smith, club president, has formed a heating commit-

tee to effect plans for beating the club yearround. Serving on it will be Jane Boss, Hilda Mixsell, Dotty Stump and Ramona Wilson. As chairperson of the committee, Ellie has asked two men to lend their services by sharing their construction expertise when it comes to purchase and installation of the heating equipment. They'll be Carey Boss and Frank Smith. Following luncheon, Ellie will give members an update on what has been accomplished so far and what to look for in the future. You've come a long way ladies!
