News Notes from - The Cape May s Dolly Stango
This is a treat you won't | want to miss! The Angelus ' Chorus Christmas Concert is 7:30 p.m. Saturday, in the First Presbyterian Church of Cape May, l Decatur and Hughes \ Streets. Admission is free. J Fifty members make up the Angelus Chorus, coming from Avalon, Stone Harbor, Ocean City, Dennis ville, Townsends Inlet, Court House and Cape May. Leader is Sherman Scull, also from Court
House. The concert is about an hour long. It's a "Candlelight Wine and Cheese Party" sponsored by the Greater Cape May Historical Society. You know the little house beside City Hall behind Alexander's Restaurant. The actual address is 653Ms Washington St. Festivities start 7:30 p.m., the public is invited, and are asked to bring only either some cheese, crackers or wine. Mark your calendar for Tuesday, Dec. 11. THE SOCIAL Action Committee of Star of the Sea is once again planning its annual Christmas treats for the patients at the South • Cape Nursing Home in j Court House, Cape Care I Center and Eastern Shore Home in Swainton. Your help is needed in getting
together some of the items needed. < Mostly required are sweaters, handbags, button front cotton dresses, bathrobes, slippers and toilet articles. No jewelry '< is needed, as the commitI tee received enough to keep little packages wrapped up for the various patients' birthdays. Anyone wishing to help is asked to call Joan i Peckiconis, 884-2758 or Catherine McGill, 884-2395. This committee deserves many plaudits for its many hours devoted to making sure the holiday spirit is i brought to so many shut- : ins. the history of the Cape May Fire Department, distributing copies of its "Souvenir News Pamphlet". The company was organized in 1870 and incorporated in 1875, making it 109 years old! Fire chiefs were first Joseph Haines and William Gilbert, who served Mr seven years; then ^ol Needles Jr., for five years, then Charles Shields for 20
years and now there is Wister Dougherty, who will be starting his 15th year in January. There are seven paid firemen, on duty 24 hours a day seven days a week, and 50 volunters working 52 hours a week. The paid firemen have taken mandatory CPR and First Aid Courses.
