P Recreation Center Mulled in Sea Isle
SEA ISLE CITY — Commissioner J. Alan Gansert, has announced that he will ask the other members "of the board of commissioners to "join in appropriating money in the 1985 capitol budget for construction of a new recreation complex. In a letter to his colleagues of the commission and othep- city officials enlisting their support of the concept, Gansert said: "I firmly believe that the City of Sea isle City has a responsibility to construct a recreation complex that will centrally locate all of our current recreational programs and expand those programs to encompass a greater number of our residents. "OUR CURRENT facilities are inadequate in size, equipment, storage and poorly located for a comprehensive recreation program. These inadequacies have resulted in limiting our general recreation program, "the number of participants in current programs, drives
- our children to street cor- , ners for entertainment 1 without supervision, and f has frustrated our senior - citizens organizations seek- - ing adequate facilities." i The commissioner used a - scaled down version of the North Wildwood Complex to show that there are - endless possibilities and i opportunities for Sea Isle to : follow. Included were a f senior citizen nutrition program with kitchen : facilities (funds available i through grants to assist such program), possible day care center for working mothers with children, facilities to rent for shows, fundraisers, weddings, group meetings, basketball courts that will allow a greater number of participants (including girls, who are not currently included), weight room for young adults and high school age residents, meeting room for seminars, crafts, classes and other programs and adequate storage space. All are included, Gansert said.
