Whippoorwill Has First Place

CAPE MAY - Lighting Dimensions and Hie Potter battled to a 2-2 split this past week in men's power volleyball. Potter won the first two 15H£and 15-11. Lighting Dimensions rallied to win the last two 15-13 and 15-7. Highlights of the first game included perfect spikes by Bob Jackson and the blocking of Stu Cohen and Jim McKinley. The Potter jumped out to an early lead in game two as the perfect spikes of McKinely found their mark. Lighting Dimensions, led by the hustling play of John Wilsey, attempted a comeback but

fell short at the end. Lighting Dimensions took a 13-3 lead in game three behind the play of Pete Kakoyannis and Ted Ferrante. Stu Cohen's spikes brought The Potter back into the game but the defense of Willie Morino and Kakoyannis helped Lighting prevail. WHIPPOORWILL Camp Ground strengthened its hold on first place winning 3 out of 4 games against Faunce Enterprises. Faunce won game three 15-6 while Whippoorwill took games 1, 2 and 4 by the scores of 15-9, 15-7 and 15-5. Steve Faragher's great spikes and the defense of John Spolton and Brian ' Lihou led Whippoorwill in : game one. ACC Adding 2 Coaches MAYS LANDING - The men's and women's basketball teams at Atlantic Community College added new coaches for the 1984-85 season. Rich Dorsey, a longtime area basketball official and coach, has been hired to direct ACC'b women's basketball team, and Jeffrey Hart, recently an assistant coach for the Hammonton High School girl's basketball team and the Idaho State University men's basketball team, has been added as assistant men's basketball coach. Dorsey replaces Bill . Poulson and Hart takes \ over for Kevin Kuchova. Raiders Win Title WILLINGBORO - Running back David Miller scored on a 59-yard touchdown dash in the closminutes Saturday to give Ocean City a 22-21 decision over Willingboro and the Red Raiders' first South Jersey Group III championship. Miller's winning TD with eight minutes remaining in the sea-saw contest, with Ocean City trailing at that point, 21-16. In the final analysis, Fritz Ferrell's 29-yard field goal in theclosing seconds of the first proved to be a big difeven though it gave the Raiders only a 9-6 advantage. Willingboro came back to two touchdowns in the third quarter, but City's defense in the period held Willscoreless from then on.
