Cafeteria, 640 Kids 'Adopted' NORTH CAPE MAY - Mrs. Penelope Hodge has adopted close to 640 children recently, according to school administrators at Lower Township Elementary Schools. Mrs. Hodge, the owner and operator of McDonald's here, is one of the first business people in the area to participate in the nationally ' recognized "adopt a school" program In actuality Mrs. Hodge is adopting the school cafeteria at Maud Abrams Elementary School and as parent to the lunch program McDonald's will be taking a great interest in the progress children make in following cafeteria rules and regulations. ACCORDING TO Superintendent of Schools Edward J. Campbell, McDonald's will be sponsoring a monthly cafeteria citizenship award to be presented to children who demonstrate "the best" in school citizenship by adhering to luncheon procedures. V Spot evaluations Will be made weekly andVoints will be awarded to^hgeh table of children in 'the lunch room. At the epd of the month those children accumulating the most points by table will receive the McDonald's Cafeteria Citizenship Award along with various prizes supplied by the parent organization. Shore Aid Proposed TRENTON - .Assemblyman Joseph Chinnici, R-Cumberland, Cape May. has introduced legislation to appropriate $150 million from the state's current revenue surplus to establish a permanent shore protection fund. "This bill would eliminate the need for future bond issues, which cost the state additional money in interest payments," Chinnici said, and would maximize the amount of federal matching funds available. He said the bill has bipartisan support from 21 cosponsors.
