Jemnnette Glazier is . president of both organiza- - tions as well as Borough Council. Don't ever pass up a chance to hear the Angelus Chorus directed by Sherman D. Scull (owner of Scull's Department Store in CMCH). Scrooge'f heart would melt at their melifluous Christmas offerings, especially -the unusual songs sung by the trio. V A All the voices are excellent and trained to perfection. Was not surprised to learn that one of them belonged to Jean (Mrs. Frank) Rollo. who sings weekly with the choir at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. AFTER THE cpncert we met almost everyone we know in Avalon at the wine and biscuit culmination. Jeannette Glazier came over to tell us exciting news about her granddaughter, Julie, daughter of Ale* and Cat h_y Glazier of Philadelphia. Fourteen-year-old Julie, who attends George Washington High, won second prize in the annual city Christmas Card Contest. f At the reception for winners Julie Was presented with a certilcate of honor framed will her entry.
better, she won a onescholarship to the . College of Art. Her entry ipay well be used as a backdrop for KYW's Channel 3 during '<he Holiday Season. Talent runs in the family — Jeanette herself won a scholarship to Moore from high school and Julie's twin sister Angela is already an accomplished choreographer. ' • • • Robert Gore lick and. On Nov. 6, three other grades were polled to find out which party had won. "As Avalon School went, so did the nation" our informants told us. George W. Feise Jr. of Century 21, Stone Harbor Realty Co., Avalon Office, has prepared and produced a remarkable brochure called "Avalon — , a nice place to be anytime." Under the auspices of the Avalon Chamber of Com-
merce, of which he is chairman of the Commerce Committee, he has compiled a wealth of information about the community. This includes a list of 135 businesses open year around, 35 clubs and organizations and dates of their activities as well as special events for members of all age groups, churches, political affilia- ' tions, and lists of physicians"; borough officials and numbers to be called in * emergencies. This is a super source of information — we would recommend that all Avalon residents keep one by the , telephone at all times and a supply for visitors too.
