End of Year Tours Expanded
CAPE MAY - Over New i Year's Weekend, Dec. t 29-30, the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts (MAC) ' is sponsoring an expanded schedule of Combination < Trolley/Physick Estate Tours and Walking Tours ; that offer visitors an over- 1 i
view of Cape May's Victorian architecture. Combination Trolley/Physick Estate Tours are scheduled Saturday. Dec. 29, at 10:30 a.m.. 11:30 a.m., l p.m.. 2 p.m , and 3 p.m., and on Sunday 30, at 11 a.m. and 12 noon. They begin at the Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St., with an hour-long guided trolley tour that covers both the East End and West End Historic Districts. In' MAC'S heated, enclosed trolley-bus, guides point out landmark buildings and tell visitors of Cape May's heyday as a Victorian seashore resort. UPON RETURNING to the estate,. visitors are next guided through the interior of the Physick House. The 16-room mansion was designed by renowned architect Frank Furness Built in 1881 in the Stick. Style, it has been restored as a Victorian House Museum Its interior contains
outstanding examples of Eastiake-style furnishings and fixtures (ihany of which were original family pieces designed by Furness himself) as well as collec « Hons of costumes, toys, and artifacts. Ending the combination tour, visitors are served hot cider and goodies in the Physick House kitchen. Tickets are on sale at Hie entrance to the Physick House. No reservations necessary ' WALKING TOURS of the i Historic District are offered Saturday afternoon, I Dec. 29. at 3, and Sunday i morning, Dec. 30, at 10. , These tours are especially designed for those who like » history close-up and in t detail. "Pajama Game" will be shown Friday. Based on Richard Bissell's novel 7.5 cent*, it stars Doris Day, John Raitt, Carol Haney, Eddie Foy, Jr., and Peter Gennaro. The unlikely plot
centers on a labor dispute in a pajama factory. ^ Memorable tunes indue: ^ "Steam Heat." "Hetnan- ^ do's Hideaway," "I'll Never be Jealous Again" and "Small Talk." Open House a To Benefit | Volunteers SOUTH DENNIS - Meerwald's Wonderland of Lights, located off Route 83 here, will hold open bouse M:30 p.m. Friday, with proceeds going to benefit the .Dennis Volunteer Fire Co. and the Dennis Township Rescue Squad. The Wonderful is an exhibit of 18,000 Christmas lights including two walkthrough tunnels. Free parking is available, and refreshments will be served. THE BENEFIT event will mark the opening of the display for the season. It will be open 8-9:30 p.m. through Jan. 1, except for Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. The interior of the house will be open Dec. 14-21 and 26-28. There is a small admission charge for adults, with children under 8 admitted free. I
