Lower Cape Plans A Holiday Concert ^

ERMA — Hie Fine Arts Department of Low^r Cape May Regional High School will present its annual holiday concert Wednesday, Dec. 19 in the high school auditorium Both the concert band and the choir will perform. The concert band will be performing .The Nutcrbckf r Suite by Tscbaikowsky, a transcription which demonstrates the cotoristic possibilities of the ensemble. Hie Overture to Handel's Messiah will display counterpoint. Hie concert band will also perform Christmas Festival for Band by Leroy Anderson. March of the" Toys by Victor Herbert, the "troika" from the Leutenant Kije Suite by Sergei Prokofieff, Hebrew Folk Song Suite by Leroy Osmon and. many traditional favorites arranged for concert band. SOLOISTS will include Arthur Cohen III on bass clarinet, Tod Laskey on baritone saxophone. Lew *Megnqigal on euphonium, Sariffi Garrison and Suzanne Hyson on clarinet.

Joanne Brandt on flute, Jerry MacDonald and Tim Cohen on percussion instruments, and Charyl Calfina, Henry Kobik, and Jason Averill on trumpets.

Hie choir will perform The Winter Fugue by . Donald Siegal, which features difficult vocal counterpoint, A Christmas Lullaby from China, based ■ on penta tonic scale, Lo How A Rote by Michael Praftorius from the Renaissance, Light The Hanukkah Candles by Gerald Kensinger. A SPECIAL feature will be the African Noel, arranged by Tim Cohen, a senior at the high school, and Sandra Beane, the choig's director. A composition entitled Christmas Day Is On Its Way by Cynthis Gray will be performed by a male quartet which includes Tim Cohen, Paul Jennings, Scott King, and Tom Wagner. Student accompanists for the choir include Dawn Dickinson and Leslie Ahrendts on piano, Tim Cohen on percussion, Patrick O'Leary on bass, and Jeff Sharpley on synthesizer. The tripple trio will be performing selections inspired by the season.
