Joyful Christmas By CLARE CAMPBELL J When the last Christmas package is finished And the last Christinas card is addressed When the bowls are all bulging with cookies Perhaps we can sit down and rest. We can close our ears to the raucuous Renditions of Silen Night, We can think of that first Christmas morning And the Wise Men who followed the Light. We can picture those humble Shepherds, And the cow that, we read, knelt down. In our own quiet rooms we can picture the Peace That descended on Bethlehem town. Too often these days we're bombarded By the crass and commercial touch That tends to tarnish our Christmas By folks who don't care very much. Never since that'first glad morning When the angels hovered above Has there been greater need for a kind word and deed And a hunger for friendship and love. So let us decide at this season To put selfish motives away And consider the real Christmas reason : The Manger Where Jesus Lay

Cape May (From Page 18) South Jersey Christian Academy fourth grader Cory Brant had a big day recently as the City of Cape May's "Mayor for a Day". Cory spent a recent afternoon in Cape May City Hall learning about city government and finding out in some detail what the municipal chief executive's job entails. Cory earned the honor by writing the best essay on why he wanted to be the mayor. The competition involved youngsters from the | fourth through seventh ! grades at South Jersey Christian. Capping Cory's j visit to Cape May City Hall was the honor afforded him of actually calling a city I meeting to order. IN MEMORIAM: Elmer Blomkvest Sr., father of I Cape May Mayor Arthur (Mickey) Blomkvest. If he was finished first sj he'd wait for me to get out \ of line so we could resume i our conversations. I came \ to regard him as a dear j| friend and will miss seeing # him about. Many others U . will miss him too.
