By Libby Demp Forrest I HOLIDAY TIME is on everybody's mind right now. All the last minute hustle-bustle, the last minute gifts, the last minute stocking staffers and little I touches for the house. A lot of people love this time of year — but there are others I who'd rather just stay in bed and forget | the whole thing. I We are among those who live this time of year and our only regret is not having | enough hours in the day to do all that we I want to do. ♦ » » I, The Winter Solstice occured at 11:12 1 a.m. EST this Friday, the 21st. This I marks the shortest day of the year and the longest night. There is something I about the shortest day of the year that I touches a chord within many of us. It is symbolic perhaps, to stand up to the §1 darkness — to celebrate light when the I light is least and the night is longest. The I Driids stood up with their ritual for the I winser solstice. The Romans did the I sarfieV Scandinavians celebrate Santa I Lucia." The Jews call it Hanukkah, the I festival of light. Christians celebrate I Christmas. I Basically, all these celebrations have I their stirrings in the unrelenting urge of | life to hold on at all costs. We need to tell I ourselves that our struggles cannot put I out the light. (Remember that when you plug in one too many lights on the tree I and the rest go out.) * * * I I Holiday time signals good times. Here are some of our favorite restaurants for enjoying good times anytime: I CRYSTAL ROOM. Enjoy a full I course Christmas Day dinner at the I scenic Crystal Room, located in the Atlas I Motor Inn, Beach Drive, near Madison I Avenue, Cape May. i Full course dinners served gourmet I style featuring everything from soup to nuts will be on the menu, starting at $9.95. Select from Roast Turkey with dressing I and giblet gravy, Top Sirloin of Beef with I : brown gravy, Stuffed Pork Chops with I apple sauce, Virginia Ham Steak with gingered fruit sauce and Veal Parmigiana with sauce. Those are such a few of the many dinners available for this I" festive holiday meal. Reservations are I definitely suggested — call 884-7000. P .S. The Crystal Room will also be open New [ ; Year's Day and serving a special menu i for the occasion. * ♦ ♦ I GOLDEN INN : Return to the "old am- | biance" at the Golden Inn, Avalon s I celebrated hotel and conference center I where daily breakfast, lunch and dinner I are served in a grand setting. I we have dined well in many places, but I always enjoy a return visit to the Golden I Inn which features an innovative menu I for every season of the year.
