Students Work on Display
COURT HOUSE - Com- d mercial Art students at the F vocational Career Center are preparing their annual v Christmas display. This pro- c ject is housed in the lobby of t the school and depicts a theme appropriate to the holiday season. Each fall the Commercial Art class develops a new theme and prepares the three-dimensional display. The themes have varied over the years from a scene depicting a traditional family Christmas in front of a fireplace to Santa Claus in outer space. The theme is not revealed until the display is assembled and in place. THE PROJECT is super vised by Ray Schultz, commercial art instructor. Schultz was a full-time, freelance commercial artist for 30 years in New York City. He has taught at the vocational schools for eight years. A graduate of Thomas Edison College, he is active in art-related organizations throughout the county. He is currently writing a commercial art textbook for | American Technical Publishers which is slated for publication in the spring ! of 1986. Schultz sees the holiday
display as a challenging project. "The students learn to work with threedimensional objects rather than designing on a flat sur-
face," he said. "TTiis kind of experience is helpful for those who might work in window or float design, interior design, and even landscape design."
