40 YEAR MEMBERS — Thurston Elmer Wood American Legion Post 198 in Court House gave 40-year membership certificates to county Freeholder Ralph Evans, left, of Stone Harbor; Philip Banes of Goshen and Lester Dilts, right, of Seaville. The awards were presented by Clara A. Foster, post commander, at a Veterans' Day dinner. Other members cited but not present were John Evans, Philip Shields, Howard Christmas and f Elmer Ellenberger. Guest speaker was county Surrogate W. Robert Hentges.

C-View Inn Scores Rec League Sweep

CAPE MAY - FNB Toms River and Pete's Racquet Club split their games in Women's Recreation Volleyball League "action. FNB won the first and third games, 15-4 and 15-11. Pete's won the second and fourth games, 15-8 and 15-6. Excellent bumps by Pete's Judy Mohler were not enough to keep up with the hits of FNB Tomcats' Kathy Dever and Karen Steere in the first game. Pete's Racquet Club took an early lead in game two behind the serves of Linda Martin and Barb Haynes and never looked back. The FNB Tomcats came back nicely in game three

behind the serves of Gina Cardaci and the consistent play of Alda Magill. Pete's turned the tables in the last game with excellent serving by Judy Ricco and hits by Mohler. C-VIEW INN swept its four games against South Jersey Champions. The scores were 15-5; 15-0; 15-0 ; 15-12. In the first game, the powerful serves of Sue Fiti and excellent spikes of Lynette Miller led C-View to the win. The second and third games were identical as the serves of Sue Ross and the net play of Miller and

Sue Everette highlighted the play for C-View. The last game was the most entertaining, as the score would indicate. Kim Booth and Eileen Hoffman played flawlessly for South Jersey Champions to keep the game close. C-View prevailed at the end, however, behind the defense of Fitz and the offense of Ross. Harvey's Retains Two-Game Margin

CAPE MAY - Kona Women and Needlers II split their four games in Women's Power Volleyball League action. Kona won games one and three 15-12 and 15-16. Needlers won games two and four 15-13 and 15-16. In the opening game, Kathy Strury's powerful net play combined with bumps and sdb by Lisa I Marcolongo paced Kona to a hard-fought win., Needlers came back in the second game behind the serves of Marion Lamach and the all court hustle of Michelle Bird and Fone Laffey. Larraine Taylor took control of the serve in game three and Mia Marcolongo's sets to Shirley Ludman proved too much for the Needlers. The Needlers rebounded for a convincing win in the last game. The bumps of Marie Flacco and sets of Debbie Palmer to Michelle Bird proved to be the difference for the Needlers. HARVEY'S maintained a two-game lead in the standings as it took three of four against the Lobster House. Lobster House won \ game two by the score of 15-13. Harvey's took the other games by scores of

15-3; 15-3; 15-10. In the first game Barb Bakely's and Larraine Holt's sets to Sharon Mericle and Sheri Hickok sparked Harvey's to victory. The Lobster House came back in game two behind the brilliant play of Patty Komar and Margaret Oleksiak. Marlene Mediuch's pinpointed serves proved to be a valuable key to the victory. Harvey's stormed back in game three behind the net play of Bakely and Jan Kellaway. The Pinpoint serves of Lorraine Holt was a factor in Harvey's win. The strong net play of Mericle and Jan Kellaway proved to be the difference for Harvey's in their victory in game four. Middle Recreation lost a game in the standings to Harvey's Lounge as it split its four games with Muscle World. Middle rec won games one and four by the scores of 15-7 and 15-8. Muscle World won the middle two, 15-12 and 15-13. In game one, Middle Rec gained an early lead that it never relinquished behind the play of Barb Moon and Robin Gilbert. Muscle World came back in game two behind the fine net play

of Donna Juiiani and Betty Harshaw. The defensive play of Gwyn Williams was a highlight of the game. In a very evenly played third game. Muscle World's Harshaw ran off five unanswered serves and Lynn Griffin's breakneck defense decided the game. The fourth game was Middle Rec's all the way as Peg Arnold's digs and Debbie Brett's net play combined with Barb Hensil's hustle sealed the

Cape Shore, Kona Remain Unbeaten

COURT HOUSE - Cape Shore Realty and Kona Sports emerged as the only two undefeated teams in the seventh week of Town Team Tennis play at the Jersey Cape Racquet Club here. Apex Realty took an early lead in the evening's first match as the ladies doubles team of Jackie Smith and Bobbie Morrier won a tiebreaker to finish 9-8 head of Cape Shore's Mary Fittipaldi and Laurie Hartnett. Cape Shore came back with a win in men's doubles as Ron Hewitt and Bob ' Thorne topped their opponents by a score of 8-3. THE MIXED doubles team of June Hefti and Phil Kelly scored another win for Apex Realty with an 8-4 final score in that event. CAPE SHORE was ready tor revenge as Zack Chavez took the" men's singles event 8-3 and Tracey Hall cleaned up the courts in ladies singles action as she steamrolled over her opponent to an 8-0 victory. Cape Shore Realty finished by a score of 36-23 to give them a solid win in the evening's first match.

Kona Sports and Keen's Pharmacy were ready to start the second match as Kona's Mike Sciarra and Jim Polizzi took the men's doubles event, finishing 8-5 ahead of Roy Smith and Dan Keen. In the ladies doubles action, Eileen Millar and Diane Schulke gave Keen's a victory as they finished with a score of 8-4. Kona's father-daughter team of Bob and Sherri Sheppard played well in mixed doubles as their 8-6 win" added games to Kona's tally. 1 KONA ALSO finished with a solid 8-6 win in ladies singles play as Julie Chrietzburg exhibited impressive tennis action. Undaunted, Scott Xovick gave Keen's Pharmacy an 8-2 win as he demonstrated his skill at the nets in men's singles. With all the scores in, Kona finished ahead by a slim margin of 30-29 to win the final match of the evening.
