Transfer Station Closing Moved Up

SWAINTON - The closing time of the solid waste transfer station has been changed to 2 p.m. by the county MUA. Ted O'Neill, solid waste manager, said the normal closing time has been 2:30 p.m. Monday through Fri-

day but because the solid waste must be taken to the county landfill in Woodbine and unloaded before 3:45 p.m. in order to cover and close the landfill in -an appropriate manner, the earlier closing time is necessary. The 2 p.m. transfer station closing time became

effective Monday, Dec. 17. •BY CHANGING the schedule, all transfer station waste will be able to be unloaded at the landfill in time for it to be covered before dark. It takes approximately one hour to cover and close the landfill." O'Neill stated. O'Neill emphasized that the sanitary landfill closing time would remain at 4 p.m. He said that means that "vehicles collecting waste in the southern end i of the county that normally come to the transfer station between 2 and 2:30 p.m., will still be able to haul directly to' the landfill." The CMCMU A also adopted a one-half day operating schedule for Christmas Eve. Monday, Dec. 24, and for New Year's Eve. Monday, Dec. I 31, at the transfer station I and sanitary landfill. The I transfer station will be I open from 7:30 a.m. to 12 I noon and the landfill will I operate from 8 a.m. to 1 I „p.m
