Middle, Harvey's Share Loop Lead — 7
CAPE/MAY - The two top teams in the league squared off in city Women's Power Volleyball League action. At the end of the evening, Middle Recreation won three of four games to tie Harvey's Lounge for first place. Harvey's won the first game 15-11. Middle Rec won the last three games by thescores of 15-12; 15-2; 15-12/ In game one, these very evenly matched teams placed outstanding volleyball, but it was the inspired play by Shawn Mericle and Sheri Hickok that powered Harvey's Lounge to the win. Game two was another close contest. Middle Rec's Jan Seer played flawlessly with her great digs. Her play, com-
bined with Barb Moon's setting to Debbie Brett for timely spikes won the game for Middle Rec. The third game was no « contest as Middle pounced on Harvey's early. The powerful serving of Peg Arnold and great defense and >net play from Robin Gilbert and Barb Hensil helped Middle Rec to the win. In the final game, Middle's Seer and Peg Arnold supplied the offensive firepower. This was in addition to the sharp defense of Gwyn Williams and Trish Cowhey to lead Middle Rec to the win. THE LOBSTER House took three of four games against a short-handed Kona Women team. Kona won the first game 15-12. The Lobster House won the last three by the scores of 15-12; 15-1; 15-11. Kona won the first game in a real upset behind the spirited play of Lisa Marcolongo and Shirley Ludman. In the second game. Lobster House rebounded behind the consistent setting of Cheryl Giddis and the serves of Patty Komar to win its first game. The Lobster House started to come alive in the third game as it was led by the outstanding serves of Elaine Bennick and diving digs of Marlene Mediuch. The last game featured the serves of Jan MacKenzie and bumps from Margaret Oleksiak to lead Lobster House to the final victory of the evening. MUSCLE WORLD moved to within one game of first place as it swept four games over J.T. Builders. The scores were 15-2; 15-6; 15-4; 15-10. In the first game, Muscle World was led by the setting of Lynne Griffen to spiker Debbie McFall. The sparkling net play of Betty Harshaw and the great serves of Donna Juliani were the difference for Muscle World in the second game. Game three was more of the same for Muscle World as McFall's all court hustle, Daphne Sanderson's net play and Juli^ni's defense providedjhe winning combinatiO|il Game four was a little
closer as Carol Addressa and Tami thomas tried to rally J.T Builders with their fine all around play Muscle World prevailed at the end, however. The United States Coast Guard Waves defeated Needlers II in three of four games in league action. Needler's won its only game by the score of 16-14.
