Sea Isle Receives Storm Aid
SEA ISLE CITY - This municipality has received another $40,023 in supplemental grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for work following the coastal storm, March 29, Mayor Domenic C. Raffa, announced recently. The payment represents 50 percent of the Federal and State share of the application, one of nine submitted by the city for reimbursement for storm related work, Mayor Raffa said. An additional 25 percent will be released upon a
final inspection report and the remainder will be awarded when the State and F.E.M.A. complete an audit. THE SUPPLEIMENTAL grant application was filed by Mayor Raffa and grants Coordinator Wish Zurawski to cover such items as police and public works department overtime required during and immediately after the storm. Debris cleanup is also paid for in the grant, Zurawski explained. Raffa said the checks were forwarded to the city by Col. Ginton L. Pagano,
the governor's authorized representative on emergency management. UNDER supplemental Grant Application No. I, the city receives $62,429 as F.E.M.A.'s share of 50 percent of the 75 percent eligible cost. The state will put up $10,404 as its 50 percent of the 12 1/2 percent eligible cost. Under supplement No. 2, F.E.M.A.'s share is $34,306, the state's $5,717. When all the supplemental funds are received, they will total $112,857, Mayor Raffa said.

Frank Asks Variances For Motel OCEAN CITY - The Planning Board will hold a hearing at 7:30 tonight on a proposed 28-unit motel to be built on 10th Street between Ocean Avenue and the Boardwalk. Besides site plan approval, the applicant, Anthony Frank, president of Magton, Inc., is also requesting variances from the impervious surface coverage; rear yard setback and building setback, and building coverage requirements of the zoning ordinance. Frank also seeks site plan approval to permit a parking lot to be built at 1020 Ocean Ave. and asks for variances from the minimum parking requirements, parking space sizes, and aisle widths. The motel site is on the northeast side of 10th Street. The hearing will be at City Hall, 9th Street and Asbury Avenue. Awarded Scholarship WOODBINE - Local resident Herbert Simmerman was awarded a $500 scholarship recently at Cumberland Community College, where he is an early childhood education major. The money for the grants to five students totaling $1,600 was raised during the fourth annual CCC Scholarship Golf Tournament last April. The grants were earned by maintaining at least a 3.0 grade point average.
