News Notes from " The Cape Mays Dolly Stango
It's all set: the annual I card party sponsored by I the Altar and Rosary Society of Star of the Sea in Cape May, Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the Victorian Towers auditorium, starting noon. Chairperson is Bea Lanzi, who will be the "hostess with the mostest", so you know the event will be a special one. Bea will see to it that the desserts are the best, her baking skills are mouthwatering. So mark the date on your calendar. This time, tickets are being sold in advance. For your ticket it's Bea Lanzi at 884-0645, or Teresa Banscher, , 884-8141. | Here's something new. It's called "Haute Canine", a natural gourmet dog snack — 1/2 oz. attached to a dog greeting card. It tastes good, too, or so my dog, "Fungi" (a Pekingese) thought as he proceeded to gobble it up. Ingredients are stoneground whole wheat flour, cornmeal, milk, eggs, soybean oil, romano cheese, garlic. It was sent to Fungi by inaborg Haulier (a friend of mine) who formerly lived in Cape May, and now that I've read the ingredients I don't know why I didn't taste it too! NEW YEAR'S Eve party at Victorian Towers was a huge success. The auditorium was packed to over-capacity, the Hof- - nagle Band entertained beautifully, and of course, the "line dancers" had the floor at times. Best couple on the floor was without a doubt, Betty and Steve Playo, who reside at the Towers. No matter what the tempo, they can do it all. I just relaxed and kept my eyes on them as they went around the room. Lots of lovely dressed women. Bea Lanzi in black velvet danced the night away with so many asking her for a dance. Peg and Jim Donahue had eyes for only each other as they danced and danced. The "chicken dance" had me almost in hysterics. It's a number where all stand in a circle imitating a chicken. Of course the Hofnagle boys help with their quacking and quacking. I've never seen anything like it. Seated next to me were Helen and Frank Niewiarowski, newcomers to Victorian Towers. They are enjoying their apartment there and were ever so friendly. Ellen Small, also near me, was chairperson for the evening's event and she handled it all so well. Tina Samuels, also seated nearby, is a good example of "forever young". . .smiles a lot and dances up a storm! *" Her daughter, Gloria sat near with hubby. Chuck Randowz, Tom and Olga Spears along with Alberta Whelan did "their thing". Tom Spears gave his own rendition of a "solo dance". Bea and Ray Lanzi, who invited me as their guest, were the perfect host and hostess, even to baking a large, large platter of Bea's very own specialty, cinnamon buns! Reservations for next year, I understand, have already befen booked! • • • BACK FROM their holiday trips are Betty MacMillan, who visited her family in Connecticut, Teresa Banscher, back from Annapolis, Md., and
r Barker of Burleigh from visiting her family in New York. Margaret Dalin of Victorian Towers enters Deborah Hospital Jan. 7. The address is Browns Mills, N.J. Do send her a card. She dpes so much for the Tenants' Association and is ever active at Star of the Sea as a Lector. . .in charge of scheduling all other Lectors and even is Eucharistic Minister. We
all wish her a speedy recovery. • • • It's called "Peaches" Washington Street Mall at Sawyer Walk, a little cafe that specializes in catering too. Owners are George E. Pechin Jr. and Greg H. Needles. I tasted their
catering" at a recent party which was indeed the finest anywhere. Eleanor Butler, soprano with a beautiful voice, is a member of the choir at Star of the Sea and is also with the Angelus Choir.
CONGRATULATIONS to Fo Fo Andy. She knows how to make a celebration the very best. Her three daughters, Bessie, Vivian and Maria, who are so beautiful, are going to have a long line of boyfriends soon. I've asked them to save one for me! La Mer Motel owner, Gus Andy, is their daddy, and he, too, is a marvelous host at all his gatherings. Greek food of course, which is soooooo delicious',.
• • • Get well soon: Rev. ^ Thomas Fitzpatrick. who. teaches at Northeast Catholic High in Philadelphia and summers here in Cape May. ¥ AVALON BRIDGERESULTS For Jan 4 ^ 1*1. Eleanor Raum ■ 5040 / 2nd. Ed Fraim 5 5010 { 3rd. Jim Henry i 4B10 MM f."
