Time Out Dining Guide

MID-JJtNUARY. Clear nights in January are just the best of the year to see the stars, because cold air is clearer than warm air, usually, and it's dark so much earlier in the evening now than it was a few months ago, or will be a few months later. Be sure to keep up "stargazing" these January nights. Now that sunrise is so late, you can see the morning stars without getting up so early as you'll have to during the summer months. • • • A lot of people like to use the wintertime to take an evening course or two - get a new perspective on things or study something that got put on the back burner for one reason or another. Other folks are like bears

tbo during the winter months. They just like to hibernate - stay at home and putter around. Then there are the people who head south when winter comes, figuring the begL-jiay to deal with winter is/o get away from it entirely. The lengthening moments of daylight give a lift to the spirit for those of us who have to stay put right here throughout the winter months. Some people are able to think spring and melt the icicles away with their thoughts. Not a bad idea, is it? There's a magic to every season, if you hold, firm to good thoughts. Remember that the next time the wind howls around the house and the windows shake.

Every season offers its' share of good eating. Here are this week's suggestions for good eating hereabouts: DEAUVILLE INN. Who said two can't eat as inexpensively as one? Word is getting around that on Monday and Tuesday, two dinners for the price of one are featured at the Deauville Inn, Willard Rd., in Strathmere and diners are enthused about this economical way of enjoying a night. The Deauville Inn is rolling out the carpet to diners who travel to this scenic location. All dinners include a potato, vegetable, rolls and butter. The same excellence that prevails throughout the year stays in effect during the two for one feature. The Deauville management also reminds diners that the famous inn is open for breakfast and luncheon as well as dinner. BELLEVUE TAVERN. The Bellevue Tavern at 7 So. Main Street, Cape May Court House is the hub of a bustling community where the famous tavern sandwiches are the drawing card, especially during the busy lunchtime hours. The Bellevue is always generous about stuffing their sandwiches with the finest meats and cheeses, topping almost anything we've ever laid eyes upon. Sometimes we just can't finish what we've ordered and have to request a doggie bag. (We don't have a dog either.) The service is unusually attentive; sandwiches are brought to the table as soon as the chefs fixed them to order. A fine selection of wines, liquors

and beer are always available. • • • BRIAN'S PLACE.
