"News Notes from rThe Cape Mays Dolly Stango
They've done it again! Cape May's Star of the Sea Varsity Basketball team in the January 6th game against St. Raymond's. The score was 50 to 39. Congratulations to Jamie Fiocca, Alex Jones, Jamie Jones, Clinton Freeman, Billy Hennessy. The Junior Varsity consists of Andrew Fiocca, Tommy Reed, Kevin Freeman, Joey, _ Charlie. Bench warmers ? are Franny Pessagno, Brace Brown, Eddie Borneman, Jack Collins; Gary Fraier and Tommy Johnson. * CONGRATULATIONS to Jeanne and Joe Fahey of All Irish Imports. They've moved to their new location (the former English Sboppe) corner of Lafayette and Perry Streets, where there'll be a much larger selection of all Irish Imports. Our very best to this very delightful couple and to their ever growing business. *•» Mrs. Sylvia Coleman, the former owner of the Planter Motel in Cape May and the chairperson for the American Auxiliary 193, wrote me a very lovely note wishing to thank all who responded to her request (in this column) for donations for the veterans at the Vineland Home. Sylvia thanks the local merchants, and Marilyn Wright of Cape May, who personally wrapped 50 gifts. She also wrote out 300 Christmas cards for each patient, each with Christmas stamp. Mrs. Coleman gave special thanks to the Herald for its coverage. She said it was a warm reception the veterans received, and their faces spoke their gratitude, knowing so many remembered them. * • • ON THE SICK list: BUI Walker, Margaret Dalin, Bert Whitman, Marguerite St. John, Stanley Zaronowski, Jamie Fiocca, Betty Lou Stokes, Sr. Joseph Mercedes, Malcolm "Spats" McDaell, Caje Hoist, Frieda Lynch, Frances McTague, Robert Doyle, Charles Cannon. Margaret StuU, Barbara Ragar, Charlie Geitz, Patrice McNulty, Mary Pine, Msgr. Robert B. Ervin and Fr. Gerald J. Makowetski. Rev. Robert Pasley, associate pastor at Star of the Sea in Cape May and • director of the choir, needs help. Male voices are desperately needed to round out some of the
music Father Pasley is in the throes of preparing for Easter. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings at 7 in the church. Oh yes — more female voices are wanted, too, no matter what the age. And you know what? Father Pasley would like the young folks to respond too. There's a need for anyone who can help out. Choir always sings at the 10 a.m. Mass on Sundays. Come and hear it. You'll want to join right there and then! • • • Don't forget: Dessert Bingo Card Party sponsored by Altar and Rosary Society of Star of Sea is Tuesday, Jan. 29, with lots of goodies, prizes and fun.
Starts at noon. For tickets call chairperson Bea Lanzi at 884-0645. (Now you know it's going to be super with Bea overseeing the "dessert department",) She's a master baker if there ever was one. Homemade cinnamon buns, cream puffs, seven layer cake, and some I can't even tell you about. Door prizes too! Call Bea to reserve your table for your group. Don't forget, meetings have all started again for 1985 year. Fourth Monday of each month is always Republican Women's Club meeting 8 p.m. at the American Legion Building on Congress Street. ' Mayor's Advisory Com-
mittee is always 8 p.m. the last Tuesday of the month in Cape May City Hall auditorium. • • • BEAUTY FANTASIES: It's supposed to be the "in" style to change your looks via a new hair color, a different mouth, weight loss, a complete change-about of your dress style. Maybe black lace hose, lovely jewelry, the look of a Watusi woman, sparkle face powder, bracelets over your gloves, the Twenties look, thq dramatic Kabuki look, Victorian era look, thick eyebrows. Just pick an era, think about it, then try it out. Home, of course; that's where I'll be doing it! ! Here's some news. . .the Dragon Lady Restaurant (next to Acme) will be serving both Chinese and American Food, -including seafood, and breakfast and lunch six days week. Starting date is very soon.
