Program Is For Men Only
OCEAN CITY - For Men Only, a new program, began Monday at the Stainton Senior Center. 3304 Bay Ave. Each week 1-3 pjn. Monday. topics of interest to the participants will be reviewed. Bill Sheva, director of the Department of Aging, will be the first host of this For Men Only Series, which offers an opportunity for men to get together and exchange retirement experiences. Some topics that might be considered will be the changing roles as a senior citizen, fulfilling previous goals and dreams. Other discussions will be on
health, exercise and maintaining well-being in an active society. * FOR WOMEN Only will be held 1:30-3:30 p.m. Fridays. These sessions will include line dancing, physical exercise and personal relationships with self and others. The interaction with others in this relaxed social setting will add to the benefits each person should receive. Blood pressure testing for persons who attend the center will be available 1-2:45 p.m. Tuesday or the first 60 persons. Center activities are planned for persons over 60, who are.con-
- cerned with continuing theor social, educational, and physical health. Frequently the center also becomes involved with opportunities to volunteer services or perform community projects. Beginners Bridge will be held 1-3 p:m. Wednesdays. There are tables available for the more experienced players on Wednesday. Each morning beginning at 9 there are cards and table top shuffleboard. RESERVATIONS for the lunch meal can be made by calling the Nutrition desk at 398-2552. Following the morning periods of relaxation the meal is served at 11:15. The number of daily
participants is limited so it is advisable to make reservations early. Seniors who are attending the afternoon sessions can arrive for the lunch at 10:45 to set up their table. The pleasureable contacts with fellow seniors, parties and special events help to maintain human contact and bring joy to many people. For information or assistance call 399-0055. Bloodmobile Visits Set COURT HOUSE - Bloodmobile visits scheduled for February have been announced by the county chapter, American Red Cross. They are: Monday, Feb. 4, Woodbine Development Center, ' DeHirsch Avenue, noon-5 p.m. Contact, Diane Tomlin, 861-2164. Monday, Feb. 18, Ocean City Community Center, 18th and Simpson Avenue, 2-7 p.m. Contact, Pete San- ^ tilli, 398-6900. Sweetheart Ball Feb. 16 AVALQN - The recreation department's Sweet- * heart Ball is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16. Music will be provided by the Eddie Shaw Orchestra. Those using the reservation system for Avalon residents are asked to include the number and preferred location. It is also asked that last minute changes in size of groups be phoned in. Reservations will be held till 9:20 p.m. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and music starts at 9 p.m. Only ice will be provided. A snow date is Feb. 23. Food Raffle ■ Prize Given CAPE MAY — The Kiwanis Club charitable benefit food raffle first prize of a $300 gift certificate was won by Felicia Greene of Cape May. The certficate, good at Starn's Shop Rite in Rio Grande was presented in | Ed Hutchinson?; past I Kiwanis president.
