Country , Western Day Set
COURT HOUSE - A country and western day in Middle Township is planned Saturday, Feb. 23, and will include something for all ages. Saturday afternoon, a Junior Rodeo for children in grades 1 to 5 will be held in Middle Township High School gymnasium. Registration will begin at 1 p.m. with events beginning at 1:30 p.m. VARIATIONS on traditional rodeo events such as calf-roping and bronco riding will be added to fast gun drawing, panning for gold and other western-type contests. Children are asked to come dressed to participate. Saturday evening, a country and western dance will be held at the Rio Grande
Fire Hall featuring the Kentucky Dave Band. Time for the dance will be 8:30-12:30 p.m. Included in the evening's activity will be a chili cookoff, seeking for the best chili "West of the Parkway". Snacks and set-ups
will be provided for the evening. For additional information or for reservations for the dance, call the recreation department at 465-3520 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily.

Wetlands 'Variety Hour' Set / STONE HARBOR - A / new six-week series of Thursday afternoon talk programs, "The Variety Hour", with guest speakers, slides, and films and other artifacts has been scheduled at the Wetlands Institute beginning Jan. 31 . Each program will be followed by tea and an opportunity to visit with the day's speaker. Some of the Thursday topics for the 1 :30 p.m. sessions will include "What are Wetlands?" "Herons and Egrets", and "Backyard Birds." Featured speakers will be Dr. Vincent Guida of Lehigh University, environmental consultant Joseph Lomax and the institute's Marion Glaspey. Programs and refreshments should be finished by 3 o'clock. The' last day of the lecture sdries March 21 will include a buffet luucheon in the Marshview Lecture Hall.
