Cumberland Grad Success Story

VINELAND - Pat Visalli could have gone to college almost anywhere — even Temple University. He chose to begin higher education at Cumberland County College here Visalli is the executive general manager of Mar Lane, Inc. in Wildwood. He and wife Margaret oversee operations at several properties in the area, including the Mar Lane Motel at Montgomery and Atlantic Avenues. "We take pride in our mot-els." THE ALbMNUS became interested in .the motel business almost 20 years ago. while develpping the South Jersey distributorship of Dolly Madison Ice Cream Company. In 1968; he enrolled at CCC to gain skills he would need in the business world such as

t marketing, sales, purchasi ing, accounting and economics. "1 applied at several colleges, but chose I Cumberland because it offers the business courses I i needed," Visalli said. "Also, the college is a pleasant drive from my home in Wildwood " After graduating from CCC in 1971, Visalli transferred to Shephard College in Shephardstown. W. Va.. where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. "I'M KEENLY aware of how decor can affect one's \ mood and performance," Visalli explained. "And I'm ^ impressed with the way Cumberland County College's beautiful campus /provides an exceptional atmosphere for learning ." VisaHi is one of hundreds of CCC graduate "success stories." , Firemen : Busy '84 RIO GRANDE - Dwelling and vehicle fires made . up the bulk of calls answered by the Rio Grande , Fire Co. and Fire District 2, Middle Township, with 14 I each, according to the report for 1984 of Chief Ralph [ J. The fire company also handled four commercial f building fires, two mobile home fires, six grass, brush ! and woods fires, and four trash fires. 1 The department also responded to five auto accidents, and used the Jaws of Life extrication device four times. THE COMPANY was 1 called to assist neighboring 1 departments nine times, and provided standby help twice. Total property loss, of $868 900 involved, was $116,075. Of $357,450 in contents, only $27,700 worth was lost Total number of volunteer i man hours was 7,885, of which 2,804 were at fires, i 1,405 at drills and 1,355 at meetings.
