Sturdy Assets Go Over $100 Million
STONE HARBOR - In 1984, Sturdy Savings and Loan Association's assets passed the $100 million mark for the first time, reaching $108 million, an increase of 53 percent in two years, according to John L. Armour, president. Armour made the announcement at Sturdy's recent annual meeting. Also at that meeting, Ellis A Mixner, a 45-year veteran of the board of directors was re-elected as president. BOARD MEMBERS John H. Mead, who serves as vice chairman of the board, and John M. Ludlam were both re-
elected to three-year terms. Armour attributed Sturdy's steady growth to continued customer satisfaction and confidence. "Since 1922, we've been dedicated to serving the people of Cape May County. Our growth is a strong sign that people like the way we are operating and the fact that we are an independent financial institution operating only in Cape May County," he said. "IT SHOWS us that it's not, how big you are, but how good you are that counts," Armour said. "Our association is one of the strongest and sturdiest in New Jersey and one of
the few which has not merged or changed-, its name in 63 years." The president also, reported that Sturdy added $723,000 to its reserves in 1984, another indication df the banner year the Association enjoyed. Changes in two of Sturdy's five offices were initiated in 1984. Renovations were started in late 1984 to provide full-service facilities at Sturdy's Avalon office, where driveup service, safe deposit boxes and a night depository will be added. As construction continues, full lobby services are being maintained with a Mobile Finance Unit located at the site.
CONSTRUCTION was also initiated in 1984 on Sturdy's new North Cape May office,' 3851 Bayshore Road. The new office, which replaces the office opened in 1981, opened Jan. 17 providing customers with full services. Ken Hawk was appointed as branch manager of Sturdy's new North Cape May office. Sturdy also adopted a computerized accounting system in 1984 which will help the association better serve its customers* needs. Sturdy has five offices in Cape May County: Stone Harbor, Avalon, Dennisville, Cape May Court House and North Cape May.
