News Notes from The Wildwoods Thomas Parsons 729-5768
I RECENTLY NOTICED that Mary Federici, Wildwood's finest resident artist, has a display of batik and paintings on view at the Cape May County Savings and Loan in Cape May. Federici, whose works have graced many local businesses, has received much acclaim for her accomplishments. This very talented Wildwood artist has been cited in New Jersey's Artists Biennial, and her shows in Delaware and throughout New Jersey have afforded her a noteworthy status among the craft. This past summer, Federici displayed several works at The Wharf in Wildwood and her offerings in the New Jersey State Museum and the Ocean City Art League were well received, as are her rotating offerings at Marine Bank's main office. Not limiting herself to the fine arts of painting, sculpting, and batik, Federici is also a very fine commercial artist whose talent is in demand. Federici 's rendering of the prposed Contemporary Motor Inn at Atlantic and Montgomery is admired by all. KINDLE FORD in Wildwood has long been one of the most active and aggressive agencies in the East, and within the agency are some of the finest professional sales persons, and among the sales staff is one of the best in the business! Tom Popanak, sales manager for Kindle Ford has unequaled abilities and was recently awarded for his achievements. The Popanaks were ^recently gifted with an ail-expenses-paid trip to California and the Super Bowl, compliments of Ford Motor Corp. I understand that the week in California was most enjoyable for the Popanaks. It seems that the Super Bowl was the highlight of the trip for Tom, while his lovely wife particularly enjoyed her tour of Fisherman's Wharf. Always thoughtful, Tom took great care in arranging the three-hour excursion of Fisherman's Wharf for his wife and if was an afternoon that Mrs. Popanak still talks about. IF YOU HAVEN't heard of Marsden Real Estate it is only because Donna Marsden has just opened .-her doors! Having just purchased the Eva Lista Agency at 8200 New Jersey Ave., in Wildwood Crest, Donna and her husband are teaming up to operate a very aggressive real estate office.. Donna has had many years as a sales person with several island real estate firms and her husband is well . respected within the construction industry. Also, Eva Lista, is remaining with the firm to handle some of the sales work. One can only envision success for this firm and it is a certainty that their new logo, a gold Treasure Chest, will begin to appear this area as select properties are listed
by this professional agency. Best of luck to the Marsden family! THE WORD IS OUT! The Wildwood Crest PTC is hosting a "CountryValentines Day" dance at the Hereford Masonic Lodge on Feb. 9th. All are invited, and considering the many, past successes of this organization, you cannot go wrong in attending! For the past several years, the PTC has offered the community an annual 50s dance and hundreds of couples attended each event. This year, the "Country -Valentine" theme promises to be most interesting with the theme carried forth to the unique and sumptuous buffet offered to all in the price of admission. Don't miss this exciting evening! You may call either 522-8521 or 522-6286 for further information about the Wildwood Crest PTC Country-Valentine's Day dance. CUMBERLAND COUNTY College has been circulating press releases, citing past grad, Pat Visalli, Jr. as one of its outstanding alumni! This past summer, Pat's picture graced many New Jersey papers as an outstanding CCC graduate. Pat, who is kept very busy managing his families motel operations, still finds much time for other endeavors and community service. For many years, Pat has belonged to the Wildwood Crest Ambulance Corps and presently serves as assistant director. Every Monday evening he can be found donating his time, calling Bingo numbers at the Corps building. Despite his busy professional and volunteer schedule, Pat finds a great deal of time for family pleasure and enjoys scuba diving and skiing. Pat is also a self-taught, amateur magician and his recent disappearing act and quick escape routine performed at McDonald's in Court House was enjoyed by all! THE PARKING Authority of Wildwood has recently released its convention
schedule for 1985: Grand Lodge Masons - April 23 - 25; Music Festival - May 1 - 5; Knights of Columbus - May 10 - 12; Azure Shrine - May 17 -19; Eastern Star - May 19 - 23; N.J. Elks - June 6 - 9; VFW - June 19 - 22; Rainbow Girls -'June 28 - 30; American Legion - September 5-7; and the Firemen will be hosted September 13 - 15. Also, Convention Hall has announced several events for 1985. The Jaycees will host their annual trade show from April 17 - 21, and the Mr. New Jersey Bodybuilding Show is slated July 20. A complete listing of hall events can be obtained by calling 729-9000. VERY SADLY noted is the passing Ernie Macilwratth on Jan. 123. This well-liked a\d respected gentleman. absence will be felt by all. How about the far end of West Wildwood for the AQUARIUM SITE! A beautiful, bucolic community situated along the inland waterway - a natural setting! The traffic may be more than the residents want - but at least they would get their bridge fixed. Certainly would like to see a Wildwoodian apply for the available MENSA scholarships. I remember when 1 was the only Mensa member on the Island, but now with Rev. Charles Rowe, CPA Tom Fitzgerald, and Luci Staller as members, a scholar from the Wildwoods would be excellent. Scholarships range from $150 to $1000 and are awarded based upon the judgement of a submitted essay expounding upon career objectives. You need not be a member of Mensa to qualify, however, I'm sure Rev. Rowe, Tom, Luci, and I would enjoy the company. If you are interested in the scholarship, give me a call and I will offer the information.
