Eight Red Haiders won two bouts each as Ocean City swept the triangular match 45-6 over Bridgeton and 52-15 against Buena Double winners included John Gunnels. Mike Nell. Phil Latella. Pat Anastasio. Todd Moyer. John Smith, Fred Latella and Richard Snyder. Snyder recorded two falls in the heavyweight division. In other action. Middle Township lost to Mainland. 57-12 with Andy Brockman picking up the only win. Wildwood received a pounding by Cumberland. 59-2 REMARKS: The battle goes on on who is the top team in college basketball. Georgetown lost a couple of games recently, and the world now thinks that the Ho as were overrated. I don't think so Georgetown still is the deepest, most talented squad in the country St. John's, the new number one team, is simply one dimensional and the big man only takes up space The top squads can lose on any given night and Georgetown went through one of those tough times Look for the Hoyas in the final four again this year
Sanford, Ward Win Jr. Tennis COURT HOUSE - The final round of the High School Junior Tennis Tournament got underway Sunday. Jan 27 at the Jersey Cape Raquet Club after a disappointing cancellation the previous week because of bad weather. Facing each other in boy's singles play was Scott Piro of Wildwood High School and Scott Smith of Middle Township High School Piro emerged the eventual winner, finishing the first set 6-4 and winning a tie-breaker in the second set /-6, 8-6. IN GIRL'S singles action Theresa Ward of Wildwood Catholic High School and Dorthea Sanfod, also of Wildwood Catholic, met each other in the final round of play. The girls played well over two hours with Sanford winning the first set 6-4 Ward came right back with a 6-4 win in the second set. Sanford fought back to win the third set. also by 6-4, to claim the match victory Trophies were awarded to the winners and finalists in each of the two divisions

CAPE MAY - In Junior League basketball action. First Jersey State Bank evened its record as it defeated Model Cleaners 14-3 First Jersey was led by ts leading scorer. Jacob Vernon, who had six points. Trevon Johnson had four points while Jayme Tomkins and Jerel Tatum had a basket apiece Model Cleaners were led by Mari Arscott. who had two points, and Bill Ackley. who had 1 point In the other Junior League game. Frank Ramirez's 30 points were enough for Cage's to defeat the Kiwanis Club 40-2 A. J. Briant had eight points for the winners and Cari McGaffney had two points Denise Dwyer had two points for the kiwanis Club. IN SENIOR League action. First Jersey State Bank defeated Model Cleaners 42-39 Shawn Wise scored a game-high 26 points for First Jersey, which won its first game of the season Mike Chelius contributed eight points.
