CAPE MAY Eckel's Diesel had a busy week as it played three different matches and moved up to fourth place in recreation volleyball. Eckel's started by beating Breakwater Electric in two of three games, knocking Breakwater out of first place. Eckel's won the first and third games 15-6 and 15-3, while Breakwater took the second contest 15-12. Eckel's Diesel took the first game easily thanks to the bumps of Tom Eckel and Joe Genovese. Net coverage by Tom Beheler and Jerry Griffin game. Eckel's came back in the final game thanks to some great serving by Marty Holmes and Mike Moore. LATER THAT same evening Eckel's took on J.T. Builders and defeated them in two of three games. Eckel's Diesel won games one and three 15-5 and 15-10 but lost the middle game 16-14. Well placed serves by Jim Counihan and net coverage by Bud Eckel led Eckel's to its first game victory. The serving of John Thomas and Mark Matteucci led the Builders to their only win of the evening. Eckel's came back to win the last game as Mike Moore's play around the net was a key factor in the victory. OF the bigger rivalries in the league, Eckel's defeated Delias Stores in two of three games. Eckel's won the first two games 15-6 and 15-13 but could not sweep as it lost the final 15-7. Net coverage by Holmes and Counihan helped Eckel's to the victory in the first game The serving of. Ken Ferrante and the dinks of Charlie Futcher were not enough for Dellas in game two as the play of Bud Eckel helped his team to victory. Dellas came back in the last game behind the blocking and spiking of Dave Barikian and Chuck

Howard. DELLAS STORES also played against National Associates, losing two of three games. Delias won the first game 15-9 while National Associates took the last two 15-11 and 16-14. Delias won the first game as it were led by the serves of Howard and the spikes and blocks of Barikian. National Associates rebounded to win the second game large part on the serves and play of Norm La Bounty. Dellas took the early lead in the last game behind the dinks of Futcher, but National Associates turned the game around behind the serves of LaBounty and went on to victory. THE COAST GUARD Breakers moved back into first place with a three game shutout of Cape May Mobile Estates. The scores were 15-13, 15-3 and 15-11. The Mobile Estates took a big 10-3 lead in game one behind the all around play of Brian McEwing and Dan Schaeffer. The Coast Guard came back and with Donald Fox setting spiker Mark Townsend. went on to win by a slim margin. The Coast Guard, behind the great serves of Steve Metts and Abe McCoy, jumped out to a big lead in the second game and never looked back. After the Coast Guard took a big lead in the last game. Cape May Mobile Estates came on strong and tied it at 10-10 behind the net coverage of Joe Carson. But the serving and hitting of Tom Wagner helped the Coast Guard regain the lead and beat a very tough Cape May Mobile Estates team BOWMAN BUILDERS defeated Buck's Electric in two of three games. COURT HOUSE - The Town Team Tennis League at the Jersey Cape Raquet Club was full of action as Kona Sports and Apex Realty faced each other. Kona took a quick lead as their men's doubles team of Bob Ansell and Tony Chrietzburg topped their opponents 8-2. Bob Sheppard and Judy Ferrante steamrolled over Apex's mixed doubles team 8-0 to add more wins to Kona's score. In ladies doubles play. Kona pulled off another win as Evelyn Miley and Dawn Connor ended that event 8-4. Kona's Scott Swain won men's singles, also by the

score of 8-4. Undaunted, Donna Mazurek of Apex topped her opponent 8-2 in ladies singles play. It was a tough night for Apex Realty as Kona Sports won the match 34-18. The Cape Shore Realty team continued its Winning streak as Mary Fittipaldi played well to win ladies singles 8-4. Cape Insurance managed to pull out a win in men's singles as Tony Fittipaldi topped Ron Hewitt 8-6 in a close match.
