Valentine Dinner Concert Slated

VINELAND - Cumberland County College's Multi-Cultural Club will hold a Valentine's dinner/concert Saturday. Feb. 16, in the college student center. A roast beef dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and at 8 o'clock the classical guitar dud of Joseph Mayes and Christaan Taggart will per form contemporary numbers as well as songs dating back to 1630. Defalla. Cesare Frank and others. I THINK we've assembled an enjoyable program.'' Mayes said "Though the music is difficult to play, it's easy to listen to." The 40-year-old Cherry Hill resident was awarded a scholarship by the government of Spain in 1968 to study in Santiago de compestela. Spain with Andres Segovia, one of the world's most renowed classical guitarists. Mayes has performed extensively throughout Eastern America as a solo guitarist and with an orchestra. He has appeared often on television. Also, he delivered a criticallyacclaimed London debut at Wigmore Hall in 1981 and performed at Carnegie Hall in New York last year. The guitarist, who also plays renaisance lute and vihuela de mano, directs the early music program at Glassboro State College. Taggart, 35, is also a faculty member at GSC. After a recent concert he performed in Delaware, a columnist for the Wilmington Journal wrote: "By Casino Trip WILDWOOD - A trip to the Golden Nugget Casino in Atlantic City, sponsored by St. Ann's Regional School.
