Vocational School Observing Vo-Ed Week
CREST HAVEN - County Vocational School District will participate in the nation-wide observation of Vocational Education Week, Feb. 10-16. The theme — Vocational
Education Real Learning — was chosen to emphasize the end result of a vocational training program. Students and staff of the Vo-Tech and Career centers plan special evfents and activities to increase the public's awareness of the district and its programs during the regular school day and evening. Open house will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, and 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. All county residents are invited to visit the campus at these times when faculty and students will be in the shops. THE BIGGEST EVENT of the week will be the mammoth benefit dinner, Monday, 5-7 p.m., in both schools. The menu includes tossed green salad, roast beef with mushroom gravy, string beans, stuffed baked potato, apple pie, and beverages. Tickets ($5) may be purchased
from staff members and at the door. The dinner benefits student activities of the votech chapters of the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America, Health Occupations Students of Amerjca, and Future Farmers of America. Several other events of the week will be sponsored by the clubs. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the day, skill Olympics will be held. In the
events, students compete in job skill and leadership skills. Winners of local contests compete against students from other schools in schools in state-wide competitions. There are also national and international contests. Winners will be honored during special awards assemblies. On Thursday, a Health Fair will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the all-purpose room of the Vo-
Tech Center. The following Health Services will be present: Alchol Anonymous. Rape and Abuse. Chiropractor, O p - thomologist. county Health Department. Cancer Society, Ocean City Community Center, Respiratory Department from Burdette Tomlin Hospital. Wellness Program, County Nutritionist. rescue squads. Junction, Mental Health Services and the Red Cross.
The fair is open to the public. Free screening and appropriate health respresentatives will be present to answer questions about the different services. Through the activities scheduled for Vocational Education Week, the county Vocational Schools hope to provide county residents with information about the opportunities available in their vocational school system.
Trash Pact Scheduled AVALON — A contract for the collection of garbage and trash was to be awarded by the borough council at its meeting 10 a.m. today at Borough Hall. The council also was to award contracts for furnishing road patching materials and for maintenance dredging of boat slips in the borough. Also scheduled was action to cancel the work session slated for Feb. 7 and setting the new time at 10 a.m. Feb . 14.

No. 1 Answers 141 Alarms COURT HOUSE - Middie Township Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 . responded to 141 fire alarms in 1984. Chief Calvin Back reports. They included: 13 structure fires, 10 electrical fires. 7 chimney fires, 16 woods and grass fires, 18 vehicle fires, 14 washdowns for automobile accidents, five Jaws of Life rescue calls, 18 miscellaneous fires, two false alarms. 29 board alarms, and nine mutual aid assists. Members attended 12 fire drills along with numerous nursing home inspections and appearances in local schools to promote fire prevention.
