Breakwater Takes 9 Games, First

CAPE MAY - Breakwater Electric had a great week as it took over first place in Men's Recreation Volleyball League standings, winning all nine of its garties The team beat J.T. Builders by scores of 15-5, 15-9 and 15-13. It took game one behind spikes by Ernie Triano and blocks by Bill Bezaire and Herb Hudson. Breakwater took game two in spite of some good defensive play by J.T Builders' Mark Matteucci and John Thomas. THE SPIKES of Gerry Griffin and Bezaire proved to be the key in Breakwater's victory in the last game Breakwater defeated Buck's Electric in three games by scores of 15-9. 15-8 and 15-2. The serves of Hudson proved to be the difference in game one The serves and all around play of Bezaire were keys in his team's victory in the second game Ixmi Dwyer's serves and Gerry Griffin's net coverage led Breakwater Tourney Feb. 23 o CAPE MAY — Due to a scheduling conflict the Men's Recreation . Volleyball Tournament will be held Saturday. Feb 23. instead of Sunday. Feb 24 This tournament sane tioned by the South Jersey District of U.S.V B A will be conducted in the Lower Cape May Regional High School gymnasium on the 23rd beginning at 9 a m THE ENTRY fee and a team roster must be submitted to the Cape May Department of Civic Affairs. over Buck's Electric in the final, game Breakwater won their last three games of the week by forfeit over Cape May Mobile Estates DEKELCO defeated the Coast Guard Breakers in five of six games this past week They beat the Coast Guard in a rescheduled game three games to none, 15 9, 15-13 and 15-13 It took two of three games against the Coast Guard in a regularly scheduled contest The Coast Guard won the first game 15-8 while Dekelco came back to win the final two 15-6 and 15-13. The Coast Guard took game one thanks to the excellent net coverage of Abe McCoy. Dekelco turned things around in game two with the spikes and dinks of Dave Matagiese proving to be the difference Blocking by Ken Gaskill and serves by Dennis Kelly made the difference for Dekelco in the final game ECKEL'S DIESEL defeated Cape May Mobile Estates in three games. 15-5. 15-6 and 16-4 Eckel s took game one behind the serves of Bud Eckel. Eckel's remained in complete control in game two behind the defense of Joe Genovese and Mike Moore. Cape May Mobile^ Estates took a comfortable * 12-5 lead in the last game as the defense of Dan Schaffer helped provide the lead. Eckel's regained its offensive abilities and came from behind to win the game as the dinks qf Mike Moore and Marty llolmes gave them the edge NATIONAL Associates moved into second place as it defeated the Mobile Estates three games to none. 15-5. 15-5 and 15-8 Hits by Don Schifferdecker and Bud Keen gave National Associates a big lead in game one that it never lost.
