I recently sat with the Myrtle Road residents and watched the demolition of the Kay residence on Myrtle and Pacific Avenues in Wildwood Crest This grand old home is being torn down to make room for another condominium project While it seemed that all present understood progress mixed emotions prevailed as a bu of Crest history and architectural beauty was cast aside This large home with its all glass round' room perched atop its three floors was admired bv manv and will be missed by aU as Wildwood Crest endeavors to become the Condo Capital" of Cape Mav County INTERESTING ALSO, considering the MCA and CAFRA restrictions, is this pervasive developmental trend I sat with a group last week discussing the building plans that have been rejected by CAFRA because of environmental impact and quite naturally the discussion led to condo development Understanding and accepting the fact that we Islanders live in an environmentally sensitive area is one thing, but under standing how one JO- unit motel plan can be rejected while 10 separate six-unit condo applications pass seemed to escape the group s understanding I feel certain that once this environmentally oriented group organizes, we will be hearing much, much more from it as members discuss the MCA.
