2 Cape Parishes Get New Pastors

CAMDEN - The appointment of new pastors to two parishes in Cape May County has been announc ed by Bishop George H Guilfoyle Monsignor Charles C. Beausang, pastor of St. Bernadette, Northfield. has been named pastor of Maris Stella. Avalon. effective March 7. The Rev . Andrew Duignan. pastor of St Michael. Gibbstown. has been appointed pastor of St John of God, North Cape May. effective March 11 MSGR. BEAUSANG was born in Worcester. MA Dec 17. 1921 He began seminary studies at St. Charles College, Catonsville, MD and continued at St. Mary's Seminary and University in Baltimore, vmere he received a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy in 1943 and a bachelor of sacred theology degree in 1945 He

was ordained in Camden June 29, 1946 After serving as assistant pastor at Our Lady Star of the Sea. Atlantic City; St. Peter. Merchantvtlle. St Mary. Gloucester, and Christ the King, Haddonfield. he was named ad ministrator of Transfiguration. West Collingswood. in 1955 Later that year he became pastor of St, Vincent de Paul. Mays Landing He remained there until his appointment to Northfield in 1966. Msgr. Beausang has served in the past as associate editor of the Catholic Star Herald From 1961 to 1973 he was diocesan director of cemeteries In 1972 he was secretary of the National Catholic Cemetery Association In June 1967 he was named a prelate of honor with the tile "Reverend Monsignor"
