Triathlon to Get i Tri-Fed Sanction

CAPE MAY - Verne Scott, executive director for Tri-Fed, USA. has announc ed the decision of the TriFed Council to sanction the Cape May Triathlon as the New Jersey l>ong Course State Championships CMT race director Phil Rogers said that "affiliation with Tri-Fed is an important step in making CMT the premier triathlon in NewJersey and the sanction is recognition of the prior wo^k done to develop CMT as the leading stage race in the East. June IS, starting 9 a m The Cape May Race has several distinctive features The most obvious is that the race is not continuous, hut is staged, with mandatory rest periods and full field starts for each leg CMT also uses a looped course for the bike and run

so that support crews and spectators get to see the racers pass several times through the city. Finally, the scoring assigns equal weight to each leg regardless of length.
