CAPE MAY — Sixteen-year-old Elizabeth Anne Elwell of this city has been named the winner of the 1984 Henry Bergh Horsemanship Trophy for Juniors The Henry Bergh Trophy is awarded to the junior who accumulated the most points competing in unrecognized horse shows during 1984 The ASPCA has sponsored the award for 32 years to instill in young riders a spirit of kindness and gentleness in handling their mounts, as well as to educate them in the proper care of their horse and riding equipment Summer Help AVALON - The Recrea tion Department is taking applications for summer staff for the following positions: Slimnastics and aerobic instructor; swimming instructor and recreation assistants Copies of the borough employment application are available in the administrator's office at Borough Hall, 3100 Dune Drive.

Winner the trophy in a special ceremony May 6 at the ASPCA's 1985 Humane Awards Luncheon at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in Manhattan The ASPCA named Jennifer Lare, also of Cape May. Reserve Champion Runners-up included Kirsten Flickinger of Cape May, third place. Gina Langon of Goshen, fourth. Cara Hudanich of Avalon. MegAnn Monihan of Bargaintown. and John Wohr of Court House, tied for fourth place Swim Team Holds Fete CAPE MAY - The City Swim Team held its annual banquet at the Atlas Motor Inn. attended by 126 people Councilman Harry Gilbert represented the city and Joe DiVito. who is the head football coach at Pitman High School and a member of the Cape May Beach Patrol, was the guest speaker Trophies were presented by Councilman Gilbert to all the members of the swim team. A special award was also presented to Sam Hall for his long ser vice as a swimming instructor for the city. Important dates in the near future for the Swim Team include a Fun Meet at Cape May Elementary School Sunday, a swim meet at Wildwood Crest March 16 and in the Junior Olympics at Ocean City April 20
