Alcohol Center Nearer COURT HOUSE - Cape May County, which the state says has the highest incidence of alcoholism in New Jersey, has moved a step closer to obtaining a local extended treatment facility. The Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital Certificate of Need proposal for a 30- bed residential alcoholism treatment facility has received the unanimous approval of the County Health Systems Agency ( HSA ) , the Southern New Jersey HSA Review Committee, and the Southern New Jersey HSA Board THE FLAN calls for establishing a free standing alcoholism treatment center in a wing of the former Crest Haven Nursing Home The facility will be owned and operated by the hospital, which will provide a 28-day in-patient rehabilitation program. Follow-up care will be offered on an out-patient basis through existing resources. Next month, the certificate of need will be presented to the State Health Coordinating Council. If approved, it will go to the State Department of Health and the governor for final decision

NEW JUDGE — State senators are expected to confirm tomorrow former county First Assistant Prosecutor Edgar R. Holmes of Court House as a state administrative law judge. He'll hear cases presented before the various state agencies. The state Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously confirmed him for the post last week. He joined the prosecutor's office in 1982 and left last month.
