Ted Bryan was honored as "Citizen of the Month" at the dinner meeting Feb 21 of the Cape May Court House Kiwanis He has been volunteering many hours of his time working with the youngsters in our community through the Youth Division of the NAACP Bryan is a graduate of Middle Township High School, where he is now a history teacher He is also a graduate of Glassboro State College and resides in Court House with his wife and five children Kiwanis Citizenship Chairman Ray Burke presented Bryan with the organization's citizenship certificate • • • THE COUNTRY and Western Day Junior Rodeo and Dance was a huge sue cess on Feb 23 Four age groups of children competed for prizes in seven different junior rodeo events at Middle Township High School The event that seemed to be their favorite was the gold panning contest The kiddies preferred to use their hands instead of a pan while participating in this contest Almost every child was able to win at least one prize That evening the adults danced to the Kentucky Dave Band at the Rio Grande Fire Hall Lacy Goodkin won the 'Firehouse' prize for her entry in the evening event's chili contest Peg Arnold. were each presented with a first runner up trophy The first place winners recently competed in Bridgeton in the Elk's District "Hoop Shoot" Contest McDonnel had an outstanding performance and came home as the district boys' 10 to 11 cham pion He will compete in the state sectional competition in Manasquan March 3 Melissa and Anne finished second in their age groups They both missed first place by one basket Norman Smith, who is the gym teacher at Elementary School 3. was the students coach Our congratulations go to these fine contestants. APPARENTLY. Jim Allax from Green Creek, John O'Dea and Mary Norbury, both from Court House, will have no opposi tion in the April 2 school board election The three incumbents were the only ones who filed their petitions by the deadline Feb 21 This is the first time in a number of years that there will be no contest for the school board • • • With 22 wins and one loss, the Middle Township High School Girls' Basketball team moved up to No 3 in last week's rankings of all South Jersey Girls' Basket ball teams in the Philadelphia Inquirer The Panthers are the Cape Atlantic II league champs Our best wishes for continued success go to this super team • • • GREEN CREEK Fire Chief Charles Frame was among several fire chiefs who presented Cape May County Fire Marshall George Costell with separate awards at a recent testimonial dinner held at Nino's Lucky Club in Wildwood Costell was honored for his 39 years of service with the Villas Fire Co • • • The Green Creek Fire Company is sponsoring a casino trip to Trump Plaza March 21 The bus leaves the Fire House at 6 p m Call 886-7050 for reservations • • • We wish Krtsti Meers of Court House a very happy birthday Kristi is 5 years old and is a student at Chatterbox Nursery School.
