Firemen Dedicate Flagpole

WILDWOOD - The flagpole in front of Wildwood Fire Company 1's Firehouse on Pine Avenue was dedicated to the memory of Walter H. Treen Sunday, March 17. "Unk", as he was affectionately known around the firehouse, was a member of the fire company for 63 years The flagpole and planter that it rests in were donated by his daughter, Mrs Richard Lion, and sons Walter H Jr and George Treen. given to family members "Unk'' Treen joined Wildwood Fire Co. 1 in December, 1918, and served with the Pine Avenue Company till his death in 1981. "Unk" Treen was a Cape May County Freeholder for many years and served as vicepresident HE ALSO HELD several elected positions with the fire company, including treasurer of the local Relief Association and president of the company On the state level. Treen served with the State Firemen's Relief Association as vice-president from 1949 to 1951 and treasurer from 1951 to 1974 "Unk" was always the champion of the volunteer Help on Drugs NORTH WILDWOOD - Narcotics Anonymous, which offers help to those with drug problems, meets 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays at St. Simeon's Episcopal Church, 25th Street and Central Avenue. Woolson, Boykin Jr. Betrothed CAPE MAY POINT - Local residents James Woolson and Mrs. Bertha Woolson have announced the engagement of their daughter Vickie, to William Boykin Jr., son of Mr and Mrs. William Boykin Sr., of North Cape May. The couple will be married May 11, at the First Presbyterian Church in Cape May.
