A Choral Tenebrae Service

WILDWOOD - The First Baptist Church, Mapel and Atlantic Aves., will present an ancient Tenebrae service tomorrow, Maunday Thursday, 7:30 p.m.. in the church sanctuary Rev. Dawn N. Mays is minister. Coming from the Latin

word meaning "Shadows." tenebrae depicts through the extinguishing of candles and the dimming of lights in the sanctuary the flight of the disciples and the approaching crucifixion. THIS VERSION will be

accompanied by a 20-voice choir. The texts were chosen from among the many Lenten hymns that have been traditional in most churches in recent times, the oldest one ( "Ah. Holy Jesus") going back as far as the 16th Century After each reading the choir will sing to heighten the dramatic essence of the Holy week drama. In this presentation a communion service is included. The music is directed by Stevenson C. Chase, director of music and organist Hymn Sing Before Service NORTH WILDWOOD — An old fashioned hymn sing will precede Easter service at 11 a.m. in United Methodist Church, Second and Central Aves. Pastor Steven Herman will bring the message, and organist Jane Holley will provide special music. 'Victory At Tomb' GREEN CREEK - Pastor Joseph Muggleworth of the Green Creek Community Church, Delsea Drive will preach at the 11 a.m. service Sunday, on the Easter theme "Our Friend Lazarus Sleepeth" or "Victory at the Tomb". John 11:1-26. Sunday School meets at 9:45 a.m. with classes for all ages. A nursery is available for all services. Tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. Maundy Thursday service, ordinance of the Lord's Supper will be observed. A "Needle People" meet i every Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for craft. lunch and Bible study. Prayer meeting convenes on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. The next Men's Prayer , Breakfast will be held 7 a.m. Saturday. April 27. For further information; call 886-6144.
