2 Exhibits At Arts Center
OCEAN CITY - An "Al umnae Exhibition of The Moore College of Art", a private all-girls school in Philadelphia, PA., opened last week at the Ocean City Arts Center. Works by more than 20 women are on display in the lower gallery in media ranging from jewelry, all, acrylic and water color to commercial design, photography and sculpture. Represented are graduates from 1930 - 1980, most of whom are now livng in and around the South Jersey area, as well as the current dean of admissions, Dolores Lewis (Golembiaski '59), also a Moore grad. A closing reception will be held 7-9 p.m Tuesday April 30. The public is invited. IN THE UPPER gallery, "Painting - Two View" includes the work of Jeffrey W. Pergament of Pleasantville and Colin Kempner of Absecon. Pergament has earned his living as both a professional artist and an arts administrator since 1972. Attending Rutgers University — New Brunswick from 1968-70, he received his undergraduate degree an honors student in
media arts from Stockton State College in 1974. Pergament's works are bold, hard-edged brightly colored images in acrylic mixed with sea salt. Using a variety of surfaces to paint on. Pergament states this "combination provides a unique surface." He is a certified arts and special education instructor and has taught for more than three years in residential schools, be is currently painting and serving as arts administrator for the Atlantic County office of Cultural Affairs and is represented in corporate, private and government arts collections. KEMPNER WORKS primarily on bristol board of paper with india ink and magic marker. Kempner has exhibited at The Central Square Gallery in Linwood and the Upstairs Restaurant in Garden's Albany in Atlantic City. He is currently a clinician for The Jewish Family Service of Atlantic County in Ventnor. and paints for pleasure. A reception honoring the two artists will be held 1-3 p.m., Saturday. Polish- American Fete Set Sunday
SOMERS POINT - The Polish American Association of South Jersey will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a polka dance and buffet dinner beginning 2 p.m. Sunday, at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Hall in Linwood. The dance will feature the Polka Ambassadors, from Philadelphia. The buffet dinner, including ethnic dishes, will be served at 4 p.m. Free beer and soft drinks will be available PROCEEDS WILL go to the organizations' scholarship program. Each year
grants of $500 each are presented to two graduating seniors from area high schools. The group also supports Deborah Hospital, and last year contribued to the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Renovation; aid to a family after fire destroyed its home; purchased books on the Polish heritage and donated them to public and school libraries, and donated Food for Poland shipments. Benefit Sale RIO GRANDE - Stern's Shop-Rite is sponsoring a Flea Market -Antique Sale, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m April 21 at its parking lot. The event benefits the county March of Dimes. Venders donate $15 for some 20 feet of sales space. Refreshments will be sold.
