EDISON — Midlantic Banks Inc. and Heritage Bancorporation have announced that the Federal Reserve Board has approved Midlantic's acquisition of Heritage. The transaction will increase Midlantic's assets to more than $9.5 billion with 291 banking offices. Robert Van Buren, chair man and chief executive officer of Midlantic, stated. "We are pleased with the Federal Reserve Board's approval of the merger of Midlantic and Heritage Bancorporation. This combination will further contribute to Midlantic's strong performance and provide banking alternatives for consumers and businesses in New Jersey." RODNEY LEEDS JR.. chairman, and S. Chamber Seeking Aquarium COURT HOUSE - The Cape May County Chamber of Commerce has joined the battle to bring a statesponsored aquarium to the county. A committee of the chamber is being organized to coordinate efforts to sell the advantages of the county to the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority as the place to locate the aquarium. THE CHAMBER em phasized that it will remain neutral on the choice of a particular site in the county Dane Wells, vice president of the chamber's economic development committee, who is spearheading the project, said the committee will act as a fact-finding group A letter has been written to the authority's executive director asking details of the criteria for site selection and a time table for the project. said Robert C. Patterson. the chamber's executive director. THE CHAMBER has also invited the executive director of the authority to speak to the chamber's board of directors. Meanwhile, the chamber is soliciting letters of support and endorsement from municipal governing bodies, county agencies and the board of freeholders.
