Beitel Will Head Neighborhood Unit

COURT HOUSE - The Cape May Court House Neighborhood Association incorporated March 29. naming as interim board chairman John Beitel, with Susan Karaso and Joanne Tinney vice chairmen, and Carmen Alvarez, treasurer. At the first meeting of an interim board of trustees 21 members were named. W. Karl Faust. Esq. will provide legal advice. Warren Barnard was named chairman of the membership committee The by-laws were introduced and given to the members for study and suggestion. They are expected to be adopted at the next meeting. FAUST REPORTED on the progress of the lawsuit against Hospicomm Nursing Home, which was the original task the group chose to address. The association has been granted intervenor status as the appellant in the original appeal of the CAFRA permit by the County Planning Board The association feels that the county erroneously dropped its objections to the septic system solution to the 120- bed nursing home complex on Magnolia Drive. The case will be Dickinson At Chanute CAPE MAY - Air National Guard Airman Kevin L. Dickinson, son of Robert D. Dickinson of Rural Route 9, has been assigned to Chanute Air Force Base. Uft, after completing Air Force basic training. The airman will now receive specialized instruction in the fuels specialist field. He is a 1963 graduate of Lower Cape May Regional High School. Erma. Edelstein was the lawyer involved in the Smithville decisions that were overturned in the court KARASO REPORTED on fund raising activities which would include a casino bus tour on April 16. a flea market and craft fair May 18 in the Jamesway Parking Lot, an old house tour May 19. The next meeting of the association will be held 8 p.m. tomorrow in the downstairs meeting room in the Methodist Church. The public is invited. Seashore Rd. Detour On Again COLD SPRING - The final section of the detour for Seashore Road/Railroad Avenue traffic has resumed after being shut down for the winter. The road is closed from Academy Road to Ferry Road. The detour for traffic is along Shunpike Road. Route 646. Motorists are urged to use caution along Shunpike. especially in the vicinity of Town Bank Road, Route 648. where the Shunpike traffic must stop for Town Bank ACCESS TO the Lower Consolidated Schools will be maintained but the majority of the work is expected to be completed during the Easter recess. Signs along the detour route will read "Detour, Cape May County 626" Local traffic will be permitted through the work area only if the destination is between Academy Road and Ferry Road. This stage of construction is the third of three to be done along County Route 626. This project is county and federally funded through the New Jersey Department of Transportation
