POLITICAL SCENE

SEA ISLE CITY - Commissioner William H. VanArtsdalen and Michael J McHale have merged their campaigns into a joint

effort, feeling that by unit they can better serve the citizens of the city. Incumbent Commissioner William VanArtsdalen has, he says, offered viable alternatives to the management of city government. He has administered a non-political police department, and instituted a beach tag program in 1982 with sales increasing over 40 percent. Since his being removed from that department it has lost revenue each year thereafter, he charged. At its last meeting the S.I.T.I.
