Teachers Get Own ' Week ' A number of events in keeping with Teacher Appreciation Week. May 5-11, have been planned by the Lower Township Elementary Schools Parent Teacher Association. A proclamation setting the week aside to honor teachers was issued by Mayor Robert Fothergill recently. Among the projects designed to recognize local educators are: A COMPOSITION writing contest sponsored by the PTA on "What My Teacher Means to Me." , . The compositions will be on display around the schools. PTA board members will give each teacher a shiny red apple May 6 as a symbol of old fashioned love and respect. A program called "Our Class Day" will be held at Maud Abrams School 7 p.m. May 23. at which some of the compositions will be selected for special honors. The PTA. through its president. Jeanne Ottaviano. has extended an invitation for all township residents to join in paying tribute to the work of the teachers. Pair Lauded On Service VILLAS — Local residents Charles and Toni Miles have been recognized as outstanding volunteers by the Educational Foundation for Foreign Study, a worldwide student exchange program. EFFS especially acknowledges their contributions to world peace through student exchange during National Volunteer Week. April 22-26. The Miles' are among 700 volunteers, nationwide, promoting international understanding by providing young people a Chance to spend a year living with a family in another country. They have applications from students who would like to spend the 1985-86 school year in Cape May County. Anyone interested in learning more about becoming a host family is asjced to call Charles - or Toni Miles at 886-7577.
