Nature Festival On Film
STONE HARBOR - A two-hour Nature Film Festival featuring four films about coastal, island and ocean life will be held Saturday at the Wetlands Institute, one mile west of Stone Harbor, beginning at 8:15 p.m. One of the features, "Between the Tides", displays fiddler crabs, horseshoe crabs and their reproduction cycle, water birds and
other plants and animals which live in tidal or ifitertidal zones along the coast. "The Galapagos: Darwin's World Within Itself" explores the origin of the Galapagos Islands and their unique wildlife. Darwin finches and the giant Galapagos tortoises are among the uncommon animals shown. "PLANKTON AND the Open Sea" shows footage of
i magnified plankton, the life food of many sea creatures. Researchers collect ocean water and explain how the food chain works. \ The final film, "Great Whales", includes scenes of whales swindling and has recorded their sounds.
