Mug Reaches for .500; Materials Lonely at Top
CAPE MAY - In Re creation Coed Volleyball, the Ugly Mug inched closer to a .500 marie as they defeated the Bijou Brats in three of four games. The Bijou Brats won the third game 15-0
while the Ugly Mug took their three wins by scores of 15-13, 15-6 and 15-10. The Mug was led by the fine serves of Brian McKeon and Tammy Davis. The nice spikes by Scott Dink and Brian McKeon led the Ugly Mug in the second game. The serves of Joe Fowler and the nice hits by Steve Komar and Roxann Krivitski led the Bijou Brats to the only win of the evening. The nice net coverage by Sandy Haungs led the Ugly Mug to their final victory. Rio Grande Building Materials strengthened their hold on first place as fhey took three of four games against Kona Realty. Kona took the third game 15-13 while the Rio Grande team took games one, two and four by scores of 15-11, 15-18 and 15-0. , . THE NICE SETS Joan Bowman to spiker Bud Bowman and the good net coverage by Fran Vogel lifted Rio Grande to their
first two victories of the match. Kona was led in their victory by the nice digs of Vicki Shaw and Sherry Layton. The perfect serves of Marty Franco and the saves of Joan Bowman led Rio Grande Building Supplies to their shutout win in the final game against Kona Rea lty . Pete's Racquet Club and i Cape May Mobile Estates split their four games in, league action. The nice hits by Greg Martin and Roy Smith led Pete's to a 15-12 win in the first game. Cape I May Mobile Estates played a strong second game and won 15-8 behind the nice plays of Joe Carson and I Charles Crossan. i The Mobile Estates took game three 15-6 behind the ; excellent bumps and serves of Sue Fitz. Pete's i Racquet Club came back I strong in the final gantes as the excellent serves of I Mike John led them to a 15-5 victory.

AVALON - Dean Randazzo of the NSSA National Team led a 1,2,3, sweep of the men's division of the Avalon Open surf contest, with fellow National Team members Bruce Beach and Tom O'Brian in second and third respectively. Conditions were marginal as the event began at 7:30 with clean two-foot waves and clean mild weather, but a stiff northeast wind developed as the event ran on, chopping up the waves and adding to the skill level required. DAVE STUMPF1G was the winner of the Junior Men's division as Bill McCardell's late charge fell short of victory. In the Ladies division, newcomer Teresa Town won easily over Lisa Armstrong. The Boys' division went to Steve Howard.
